Every Friday, I’ll send you a wonderful website (or more) that my classes and my parents love. I think you’ll find they’ll be a favorite of your students as they are of mine.
Address:
Krakatoa: Volcano of Destruction
Age:
3rd grade +
Topic:
Science, nature
Review
In elementary terms, the website discusses tectonic plates, what causes volcanoes, different types, where they’re located, and lets students create their own virtual volcano. Students can even change the settings for gas and viscosity to see the effect on their personal volcano. This is a perfect website for 3rd grade units on landforms and/or fourth grade units on biomes and habitats. Given several choices, my students often select this website and share it with their friends.
